PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP

Solving local challenges through public–private partnership.

We take part in initiatives that aim to solve the diverse social challenges facing communities by revitalizing circular local economies and through public–private projects. We connect government, public-interest corporations, private companies and community groups, and support everything from planning, proposing and coordinating mechanisms to reviewing results.

YOKOHAMA

Supporting Yokohama City’s “building a society that leaves no one behind”

In Yokohama City’s pioneering public–private initiatives for a society with fewer children and more older people, we support a wide range of efforts, including strengthening community functions and watch-over programs, child welfare × sports, disability welfare × agriculture, and employing foreign workers and attracting foreign companies.

CARE MEETING

Taking part in the “Life Care Conference for an Age of Individuals and Isolation”

We took part in a conference held at the Susukino housing estate in Aoba Ward, Yokohama, on the care of people prone to isolation and loneliness, such as older people without relatives. Discussing who should support decision-making for people with diminished capacity, and how, we proposed a mechanism to turn the unpaid support that professionals and welfare commissioners provide beyond their authority (“shadow work”) into paid services in partnership with private specialist businesses.

REVITALIZATION

Proposing multigenerational models for housing estate regeneration

For the Susukino estate in Aoba Ward and the Takeyama estate in Midori Ward, we proposed a cycle that strengthens community watch-over through exchange and mutual support among children, young people, parents and older people, enhances medical care, supports decision-making, and provides vocational training and employment support. We have brought together businesses to deliver it and are moving forward with specific investment studies.

INNOVATION

Participating in the Yokohama Innovation Promotion Organization’s initiatives

We take part in the organization’s efforts to revitalize the circular local economy and solve social challenges through public–private projects, helping build mechanisms centered on aging housing estates that expand medical care, multigenerational community watch-over, diverse opportunities for social participation and flexible work.

SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION

Social contribution: “Shakai no Mikata”

We support the healthy growth and independence of children and young people, and provide intermediary support for the people who sustain their communities.

01

Home appliances for young people leaving social care

As a project of the Tsunagu Inochi Foundation, we run a program that gives sets of home appliances, centered on a washing machine, refrigerator, rice cooker, vacuum cleaner and microwave, to children and young people leaving children’s homes and other social care facilities.

02

Fundraising support for opening a children’s cafeteria (pro bono)

We proposed a grant program of the Japan Network for Public Interest Activities (JANPIA) to KUSC, an NPO running community activities, and helped prepare its business plan and presentation materials. The full 15 million yen was awarded as a 2024 grant.

03

Hands-on support for a children’s cafeteria’s organizational foundation (pro bono)

For a children’s cafeteria in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, we handled coordination with outside parties, including government: PR, grant applications, and accepting donations of local produce and used school backpacks. In 2024 this helped secure about 3.3 million yen in funding.

04

Proposing intermediary support for private public-interest activities

Given the fragile operating foundations of private public-interest organizations, we have presented to national and local government the importance of intermediary support organizations and proposals to strengthen the infrastructure of a welfare society using dormant deposits.
